About Alexis

AlexisAlexis Porta, daughter of Rhonda and Colin Porta of Gonzales, Louisiana, brought hope to many lives in both life and death. She loved to dance and hang out with her friends and cousins. At 16, she died of an aneurysm in the brain after a night out with friends. She donated her organs and brought hope to others who needed it.

Alexis' heart went to a 61-year old married lady.  She enjoys reading and is happy to get back to gardening.

The liver recipient is a 13-year old boy.  He was never able to have a normal childhood because of his illness.  He loves sports and is hoping to be able to play baseball now.  He is a favorite at the transplant center.

Alexis' right kidney went to a 59-year old married lady.  Her left kidney went to a 57-year old man.  Both are doing well and are looking forward to new healthy lives.

Alexis' pancreas went to a 35-year old man who was unable to work because of his illness.  He is doing very well.

Alexis is part of the miracle that is allowing all of these people an opportunity at a new life.  They will all smile a little brighter, laugh a little louder, and even learn to dance, because Alexis will be part of their lives forever.

Organ donation may not be an option for everyone, but if you want to be an organ donor, please discuss the topic with your family.  Remember, "Don't take your organs to heaven. Heaven knows we need them here!"
